Our Feast

The morning after Toni arrived we had a small feast. We made a pitcher of powdered milk. We made one packet of oatmeal. We cut open one pack of wet veggies--the corn. Finally, we had fresh eggs. We made sure to put away the food in a secure area. Our meal was prepared together and then equally divided. Mmmm mmmm. It tasted great!

It's been a while since I had milk. Many of the cows and goats are not milking yet. They had not had a calf recently or lost their milk during transport. A small per cent are even pregnant or able to become pregnant.

The left over milk in the pitcher was enjoyed throughout the day. Of course we drank our milk inside the tent away from prying eyes. Otherwise, we wouldn't have peace with some of the people here. They'd be at our tents with their screaming babies begging for the milk.  Just one day, I wanted to enjoy milk ALL TO MYSELF. Is that so much to ask? I told Toni not to make any more milk for now. We have to keep our powdered milk dry and out of hiding so it doesn't get spent, spoiled, or stolen.
